Christmas Elves

We built 3D elves out of boxes and tubes and cardboard. We had empty boxes wrapped in Christmas paper. The shapes were cylinders, triangles, rectangles and squares. Some of our elves had jet packs and sticks for arms.  We used geometry to make our elves! We took our elves home with us and they are sitting by our trees at home! We also made shapes out of marshmallows and toothpicks.

It's Grinch Day

The Who's from Whoville!

Today was a very snowy day! There were lots of friends that missed out on our activities for Grinch Day. We had Grinch jello and rice krispie squares. We made a Chatterpix of how to make the Grinch smile. We had lots of kids dressed in green and some dressed as Whos from Whoville! It was a green day :)

We had an extra long recess because Mrs. Welsh offered to take us!  We have a book called The Little Cookie to read to you and our dog and our cat and our grandparents and even our Christmas tree.
We made our elves! We used presents, tape, tubes and cylinders and even some glue.
We watched the Gr. 3, 4, 5 play!  It was long but it was funny!

The Gingerbread Man broke out!

 The magic experiment

A gingerbread lock box challenge!

The magical experiment worked! Without touching it, the water went up the paper towels and brought water to the other cups.  It even made secondary colours!
Today we did another lock box! We were trying to break out the gingerbread man.  First we read a story and then we scanned a code and the gingerbread man talked to us in a squeaky voice. We had figure out clues in our team and grab a certain colour key. The lock box had a note that said we broke out!  When we opened the locked box, we found out that there was candy the gingerbread man left us. We had so much fun!
We have a Random Acts of Christmas Kindness cup and we made bucket filling cards to school helpers. We will deliver them tomorrow.
We had a new game with the Omnikin ball called Indiana Jones.  We taught the 3/4 class the popcorn game!

A ginormous ball!

The Omnikin ball is GINORMOUS!
A magical experiment!
We are continuing to learn about shapes and colours. We are doing a magic trick to see if water will transfer to another cup without us TOUCHING it.
In gym, we had the Omnikin ball. It is ginormous! We tried pushing the ball with only our hands or our feet and it was so fun. The ball is so big that it ran us over! We were a set of train tracks and the Omnikin ball rolled over us on our tummies.
We got a special note about December and it says we will have Grinch Day.

Transparent and Opaque

We are learning about shapes and we made a Christmas tree out of shapes. We played volleyball in gym today.  In volleyball, we hit the ball back and forth to each other and we volley the ball over our heads. We are still learning about colours and we learned about transparent and opaque.  Transparent means that you can see through it. Opaque means that you cannot see through it.  Transparent things are windows, plastic wrap, glasses.  Opaque things are door, wall, shirts, carpet.

Geometry

We have been reading a story about reindeer races and making sentences. Today we had to write the reindeer winner and colour a picture. Lots of people thought Tip would win the race.  We are learning about shapes.  Learning about shapes in math is called geometry. We played I Spy using shapes. We played Freeze Tag and British Bulldog at gym. We sang some songs in music.

Primary Colours like Kandinsky

Today we played Revenge Dodgeball with Ms Mahan's class.  It was so fun. We continued to work on colors and we did a painting like Kandinsky's circles.  We made circles using only primary colours which are blue, red and yellow and made orange, purple and green. We played Kahoot today using the ipads.  We had to make 10 combinations and we had questions that we had to answer fast like 5+5 and 10+0.

Remember to bring in the Christmas ticket form.
