We used Bee Bots today.  It is a little wheeled robot that moves on a mat.  You have to program the Bee Bot to move to the correct place.
Ms Mahan's mom brought some artifacts from the olden days.  We had to match old and new.  There was an old-fashioned lunch kit.

Ants, ants, ants

We read a book about ants.  They have 3 body parts.  They are the head, thorax and abdomen.  They have antennae, too.  They can pick up heavy stuff.  If we were ants, we could pick up an adult!  Some ants have stingers. We learned that ants talk with their antennae.

We used Haiku Deck again.  Everybody had to finish it today.

Tomorrow we are going to pop a balloon!!!!!  There is a secret message in EVERY balloon.

Here is a sample of our Haiku Decks :) Enjoy!

We Need Plants!

We had an ice cream treat or some cookies!  We saw olden days mannequins; they were kind of scary! The toy dolls were scary, too. The houses were very old because they looked different and there was old things in them..  There were some real teepees.  The sidewalks were made out of wood.  There was a steam train that most of us got to ride on.  We had a scavenger hunt and had to find many different things!  We even saw chickens, pigs and sheep!

We were in groups with some fabulous parents! We had a great day!

We measured capacity

The Public Library came and told us about the Summer Reading Program.  We need to register at the library to read and win some prizes!

We learned more about the Zones of Regulation.  Ms Alex blew up balloons that were the colour of the Zones.  We only have two more Zones times.

We did some more measurement in math.  We measured capacity using cups and containers.  We filled them with beads.  It was VERY messy in our classroom.

A cool room!

We painted our dandelions today.  We cut out our faces so it would look like we were blowing dandelion seeds everywhere.
We had music in our class because our class is one of the coolest in the school!
Some of us finished our opinion writing about ducks or rabbits. Right now, more people think it is a rabbit.
We did some math.  We learned about area.  It means it covers more space.
We have a special note about the Dinner Theater next week.  Will we be going?

We have opinions but can we give a reason....

We are working on Opinion Writing.  We watched a book called Duck!Rabbit! and then we had to choose if it is a bunny or a duck. We can only choose one of them.  Opinion writing means you have to give a REASON for your choice.
We did math.  We had to cut pictures that shows what is lighter and heavier than me!
Soon our school will get a Tower Garden.  We can grow peas and strawberries.
We started our dandelion painting today.
Some of our grass heads started growing!

Little Bow Schoolhouse

Today we went to the Little Bow Schoolhouse for school!  We had to walk with partners and it was a long walk and we were TIRED! 100 years ago students had to write good work or they sat in a corner! They had different lights in the schoolhouse and a wood stove to heat the room. It was very old in there because it had wooden desks.  There was only 1 room for Gr. 1-8.  They even had a different flag because O'Canada didn't exist yet.  There was no playground, we had to play old-fashioned games like tug of war and sack races.  There was even the Union Jack flag on the schoolhouse.  Ms Mahan and Mrs. Saunderson had to ring the bell when it was time to go inside!

When we came back to the 'real' school, we had time for a little snack and centers.

Have a great weekend!  See you Monday!

We made seed heads.  We can't pick them up.  They are going to grow hair!  Mrs. Saunderson says they look just like us!

We learned some more about Zones of Regulation.
