Synergy Day!

Spreading kindness in our community!

Today, we went on a long walk delivering synergy cards and when we were done we went to the park. We were spreading kindness.
We had a guest engineer come to teach us about building. We made newspaper towers! Tape helped because we could stick newspaper sticks together.  A triangle shape helped us build a strong tower. We had to synergize together to make a tall tower. We rolled newspaper into tiny tubes to stick together and made it really tall.

Heaven Can Wait!

We used our Lemonade Stand money to buy food and supplies for Heaven Can Wait. We had a guest! Kim and Allie, the dog, came to visit and pick up the supplies. The newspaper came and took our picture. She told us that there are 42 dogs at the shelter AND 180 cats! We got to pet the dog.

Paper Mache!!!

We went out for recess and it is getting warmer by the day. Today we tried paper mache! We are making a robin's egg. We did our morning song in the afternoon and Kaitlin videotaped us. We had morning meeting and talked about Bucket Filling and Kaitlin came to help.  We are learning about fairy tales and we read a story about the Three Ninja Pigs.

Building Bridges!

We were building bridges again.  This time we had to use paper and cups and we measured how many pennies it would hold.  To make the bridge strong, we had to use different shapes. We learned that the strongest shape is a triangle. We have new sight words today and we played badminton in gym. We are getting close to finishing our printing books. We did Read to Self and Mrs. McLean said it was SO quiet in our classroom when everyone was working!
It was a snowstorm outside and everyone in our class got soaked!

Engineers!

Building a bridge for the 3 Billy Goats Gruff!

Engineer means that you have to design and build stuff.  Today we engineered Lego bridges.  We built some bridges over water just like the bridge in The 3 Billy Goats Gruff!  We had to make the bridges more stable by adding more Lego pieces and support beams underneath so the bridge wouldn't collapse. Some of the bridges were broken and we had to remake them.  We used weights for billy goats and they were different sizes and weights!

Welcome back!

We are back from Easter break! We are learning about writing with our senses. It helps us describe our ideas.  We are learning about the Bossy R triplets.  They are ir, er, and ur. When they are together, they say -er.  We read 12 ways to get to 11. We had to add numbers together to make 11. We had gym today. Yesterday we built our names out of lego.

We broke out!

 We did another lockbox today! Thing 1 and Thing 2 locked the boxes and we had to open the boxes to put them back in.  We had a clue envelope and it had many puzzles in it. We had to read clues, we had to find a key, we had invisible numbers and used a light pen to solve the clues. When we broke out - the box had chocolates and bookmarks.

We also finished building our communities.  We showed Ms Mahan’s class our communities.  We took a picture and videotaped our town.  Our communities have police stations, fire stations and places to work. We had to work together to build our town.

We won! We won!

     

We had an assembly in the gym today! We finished the Lemonade War and some people got prizes!  OUR class WON the donation money from the Lemonade Stand on Monday.  Every single person in our class had a cup!  We made $135!  We decided to donate the money to Heaven Can Wait to help our animals!

Construction Begins!

We started construction on our communities.We made buildings out of cardboard boxes. We used black paper for roads and smelly markers to make road dividers. We made stores and houses out of cardboard, We already planned the map so we know where everything goes.
We played basketball in gym with Ms Mahan's class. We threw balls in music but it was a game! In music, we played Doggy Where's Your Bone.

City Planners!

We had crazy sock day.  Today is World Down Syndrome Day and we respect all learners. We put our feet in the middle and took a picture.

We were city planners today and made a plan for a new community. We made groups so we could build a community for people. We know we must include a place to keep us safe, a place to work, a place to learn and play and a place to keep us healthy. We made a map in our planning. 

One of our friends read us Swamp Water. He's a great reader! We are excited for Easter.
