5 Senses and Fall

Recording our ideas!

Today we looked for signs of fall using our senses. In the fall, we smell the leaves, the grass, the air. We hear the leaves getting crumpled, stomping rocks, the water moving, the grass moving and the wind.  We see grass, leaves falling, leaves on the tree moving. We feel grass, the trees, pine cones.

Our 5 senses help us find fall!

Great Alphabet Exchange

Image result for alphabet
We received our first alphabet letters from other schools.  We got a Q for quilt from Gramere school by Alberta Beach.  It is very far from High River.  We also got an N for nest from Grimshaw, Alberta.  It is even further than Grasmere!
We wrote a letter about our school and we know that we go to Ecole Joe Clark. We know that we have schools, a Superman house, a school named after the boss of Canada in 1979!
Today we wrote a poem about apples using our sense! We know our senses are smelling, hearing, seeing, touch and tasting. Ask me about my poem!

Terry Fox Run

Today, we ran around Emerson Lake for Terry Fox. Terry had a prosthetic leg because he had cancer in his leg.  He tried to run across Canada. He dipped his leg in the Atlantic Ocean and wanted to finish the race by dipping his leg in the other ocean. He had to stop running and go to the hospital because he had big spots on his lungs.  He couldn't breathe anymore.  We remember Terry by running the Marathon of Hope every year.  Terry Fox tried to run across Canada to raise money for the scientists and doctors because he hoped kids would never get cancer.

Telus Sparks

We went to the science center today. We loved the indoor play area.  We drank out of a TOILET!!!! We learned about taste, smell, hearing, sight and touch.  We even played outside at the playground. We had two snack times.  We went down a dark slide. There was a water table that we played on.  The science center was so much fun!

Applesauce!

The finished product!

Yum, yum!

We made applesauce today. We had to cut the apples and we put them in the crockpot. We had to mash the apples and it cooked all day. We added sugar and cinnamon. We could smell it and it smelled good. Then we tasted it. It tasted delicious. We are bringing home the recipe.

Alphabet Search

Today we read a book about the alphabet. We found letters in our snacks and we found letters in magazines. We are making a huge chart with all the letters. We were proactive and know that we are in charge of our choices.  We read a book about our senses and wrote about one of our senses.

Our class mission statement!

We promise that we will be kind in 1S. We do the right thing even if no one is watching - that means we are being good. We will be quiet on the carpet. We will be safe by keeping our hands to ourselves and not hurt people.  We are nice!

Zero the Hero

Today is Zero the Hero day because we have had 10 days of school! Zero the Hero appears when we count by 10s. It makes numbers bigger and it saves the little numbers. We moved the red squares to a 10 stick. We counted by 10s. We got a treat that was shaped like a zero!
We did another GoNoodle. We went to the learning commons to do Raz-Kids and then we got library books.

International Dot Day

Quiver is a COOL app!

We taught Ms Mahan's class, too!

We read a story about a little girl who didn't think she was an artist and then we learned that she could do anything. We made our own dots to 'make our mark'. After, we used a really cool app that made the dot come alive. We even went over and taught Ms Mahan's class how to use it! I brought the paper home to teach you how to use it!
