We can log in on the computers!

Today we used the computers.  We did Mathletics!  It was hard to type the password.  We got to make Avatars on the program.  Mrs. Saunderson says we will use that program for patterns.  We used a snake to look at patterns.  Ask me what my password is!

We also went book shopping today.  We got new books for our book box.  We also went to the library.  Let's read my new books.

Today we got a book order.  It is due on October 13.

Work Samples

We brought home our summer sunglasses, Terry Fox shoe and a math sheet that we worked on in class.  These are some of the things that we are doing in Grade 1!

Remember to practice sight words on a regular basis.  If I have mastered the word list, I should bring them in to read to Mrs. Saunderson.  If I blow her socks off, I will get some new ones!

The Learning Commons was busy for photos yesterday and today.  We will bring home new books tomorrow!  No school on Friday and Monday.  Enjoy the long weekend.

Patterns and fall

We are learning about patterns in math.  We know that patterns go over and over and over.  We can use sounds and noise for patterns.  We can use abc abc for patterns and even colors.  Sometimes patterns can be red, orange, yellow, green.

We are learning about fall in science.  In fall, we rake up leaves and we go trick or treating, Thanksgiving is in the fall and we have turkey.  Halloween is in the fall.

Remind and Picture Day

Today, we got to use the whiteboards to count during math time.  We had math rotations.  We had to skip count by 10s.

It is Picture Day on Monday.  You need to bring your best smile.

Mrs. Saunderson is asking you to sign up for Remind so that she can text you important information. The paper is in the Take Home folder.

The Terry Fox Run!

We did the Terry Fox run.  We ran around Emerson Lake.  We felt good and we were tired when we were running.  There were a lot of runners.  Some parents joined us. It was hot and we were sweaty.  All the people were running for Terry Fox.  We watched a video and a song today about Terry Fox.  Ask me why Terry Fox is a hero!

Tomorrow is the Terry Fox run.  We should wear our Joe Clark t-shirt.  We could bring Toonies for Terry.

Thanks to Ethan's mom for bring cupcakes for the class.  Yum, yum!

Homework!

Today we got sight words.  We have to sound out our words every day.  We could cut them up and play games with them! We could put them on the fridge.  We have to sound out words.  When we know them really well, we return them and our teacher will give us new ones.

Our morning started outside!  We saw lots of  hot air balloons practicing in the field above our heads!  They are racing in High River tomorrow.  They are going to glow tomorrow night!  Could we go see them?  Our favourite balloons were the elephant, the rainbow one, the face ones and all of them!

After that excitement, we came back to class.  We did literacy block.  We take turns doing 4 rotations.  They are fun!  We Listen to Reading, we do writing, Word Work and we Read to Self.

Today we practiced the Terry Fox run.  We ran around Sunshine Lake!  Our school run is September 30.  We can bring Toonies for Terry!

 

REMEMBER there is no school for students tomorrow! 

September 23

The Bake Sale made $520!!!!! Wow, we are great helpers. 

Today we had 3 recesses. We went outside for gym! We learned how to use chalk pastels to colour our sunflowers. You need to rub the colours when you colour it. They are very messy. Our hands were super dirty.

Notes came home today about Milk/Hot Lunch program.  We need to order on-line.  We also got a note about the Terry Fox run on September 30 at 1:30.  Come join us!  Could I bring a Toonie for Terry?
