The Terry Fox Run!

We did the Terry Fox run.  We ran around Emerson Lake.  We felt good and we were tired when we were running.  There were a lot of runners.  Some parents joined us. It was hot and we were sweaty.  All the people were running for Terry Fox.  We watched a video and a song today about Terry Fox.  Ask me why Terry Fox is a hero!

Tomorrow is the Terry Fox run.  We should wear our Joe Clark t-shirt.  We could bring Toonies for Terry.

Thanks to Ethan's mom for bring cupcakes for the class.  Yum, yum!

Homework!

Today we got sight words.  We have to sound out our words every day.  We could cut them up and play games with them! We could put them on the fridge.  We have to sound out words.  When we know them really well, we return them and our teacher will give us new ones.

Our morning started outside!  We saw lots of  hot air balloons practicing in the field above our heads!  They are racing in High River tomorrow.  They are going to glow tomorrow night!  Could we go see them?  Our favourite balloons were the elephant, the rainbow one, the face ones and all of them!

After that excitement, we came back to class.  We did literacy block.  We take turns doing 4 rotations.  They are fun!  We Listen to Reading, we do writing, Word Work and we Read to Self.

Today we practiced the Terry Fox run.  We ran around Sunshine Lake!  Our school run is September 30.  We can bring Toonies for Terry!

 

REMEMBER there is no school for students tomorrow! 

September 23

The Bake Sale made $520!!!!! Wow, we are great helpers. 

Today we had 3 recesses. We went outside for gym! We learned how to use chalk pastels to colour our sunflowers. You need to rub the colours when you colour it. They are very messy. Our hands were super dirty.

Notes came home today about Milk/Hot Lunch program.  We need to order on-line.  We also got a note about the Terry Fox run on September 30 at 1:30.  Come join us!  Could I bring a Toonie for Terry?

Bake Sale

Tomorrow is the Bake Sale.  Suzy in Gr. 2 is raising money for her friend who is very sick.  I can bring .25 - $2.00 for a treat at lunch time.

ALSO, our picture day is Monday, October 5!

We tricked our principal!

 

       

We had so much fun when we asked Mrs. Q-W to come and read The Book with No Pictures.  It is a book with no pictures but it has funny words like BooBooBut.  It is preposterous!  We laughed and laughed!

There is a bake sale on Tuesday.  Items are .25 - $2.00.  We are supporting Gr. 2 Suzy's neighbour who has a brain tumour.  Buy a rice krispie treat!

Meet the Teacher BBQ

Tonight is the Meet the Teacher BBQ! My job is to remember to tell mom and dad that the BBQ is at 6:00! I have to introduce my mom and dad to my teacher EVEN if she has met you before. We get to play outside and eat hot dogs and hamburgers. We can bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on. See you tonight.

Dot Day

Today we painted dots. We coloured dots on the iPad.   We played on the iPads for dot day.  We stacked chairs. We painted dots.  We had some rocket candies as dots.  We had to count them.  We had 15 rockets in each package.  Then we ate them.  We played on the Apollo and we played on the playground.

Book Order

Our first book order of the year went home today.  If you are interested in ordering books, please make cheque out to Scholastic Canada and send to school by September 21.  Thanks!

We also had our FIRST library class of the year!  Students are allowed 2 books at a time.  We will have library every Monday.

Last but not least, tomorrow is INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY!!!  Based on the book, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds.  Students were asked to wear dots and we will be doing many fun dot activities!
